This is a good looking shoe that has great cushioning, comfort & support. I own 2 pairs, one for the gym & a 2nd pair for every day use. No break in required, they are comfortable out of the box. I paid $30.00 less at Amazon, than my original pair which were purchased at a New Balance Store. As with all New Balance shoes, I needed a full size larger than my shoe size.

The NB 993 is the latest in a long series of classic shoes. I own several pairs of 992s, and I was happy to repeat/upgrade with the 993s. This shoe is extremely durable and has a luxurious feel. It doesn’t use any gimmicks like air pockets or shocks. Instead, it simply uses high quality materials providing the best cushioning available in a sneaker. The look is classic, the materials are top-notch, the feel is unreal. If you want the best, buy this shoe.

I recently started running again. However, after every run, my hips and knees would ache (and I’m not that old!). I decided to retire my cheap Nikes and invest in a decent pair of shoes.
As soon as I started using these the post-run aches disappeared! They’re comfortable, supportive, and made in America to boot. I’d say these are as close to perfect as a shoe can get.

I’m probably an atypical user of the New Balance 993’s. I primarily use them for the treadmill and everyday use, i.e just walking around. Perhaps if you’re a hardcore runner you’ll have differnt criteria than me. I don’t care about the technical details but rather go by how they feel…which is wonderful. There’s plenty of cushioning and comfort without “hot spots”. I like the fact that these come in widths which most other companies don’t provide plus New Balance stands behind their products without fine print or asterisks. I once had to return a pair that wore out prematurely and without hassle they sent me a new pair pronto. Now that’s service! Other companies could learn a valuable lesson from New Balance. Bottom line – excellent product at a fair price.
